Dara
of Jasenovac
is
a 2021
historical Drama film
directed by Predrag
Antonijevic.
Based on the testimonies of survivors, it deals with war crimes
and atrocities that took place at Jasenovac
concentration camp.
The
Croatian Ustaša regime
existed during World War 2 from 1941-1945 and
it targeted
Serbs,
Jews and Roma as
part of a large-scale campaign of genocide. 22 concentration camps
existed inside the territory controlled by the „Independent State
of Croatia“ (NDH),
two of which (Jastrebansko
and Sisak)
housed only children and the largest of which was Jasenovac. According to the Tito regime in former Yugoslavia approximately 600000 people were killed im Jasenovac, mostly Serbs, but because of the Yugoslavian slogan "Brotherhood & Unity" (Bratstvo i Jedinstvo) there was never a public discussion about this topic, to avoid tensions between Serbs & Croats. Some sources say that more than 800000 Serbs were killed in Jasenovac.
